What is WebP?

WebP is an image format used widely on websites. It supports lossy and lossless compression as well as transparency, and the latest versions of the major browsers show it.

Images saved from websites are often WebP. Some apps, editors and upload forms still expect JPG or PNG, so converting is the quickest way to use the image there.

JPG or PNG?

Choose JPG for photos: the file is smaller and opens almost everywhere. Choose PNG for graphics, logos or anything with transparency, because JPG has no alpha channel.
